The slime eaters arent hard. The slime isnt hard. I think the hardest thing is finding the slime for backups.

Slime care

I keep them in 1 gallon Tupperware containers from walmart. I poke like 4 earring sized holes in the top for a very minimal amount of airflow. But if you could find black containers like Tupperware has with the lids those would work better. Some one said to use viva papertowels but I feel like they break down way too fast so I use bounty. And yes bounty. Any other are too cheap and it makes the slime nasty.

I take 2 of the smaller square ones or you can do a full piece you'd just have to fold it to put it across the bottom. I use RO water but distilled is fine. I squeeze it out so that its dripping a little. You dont want it bone dry and you dont want it soaking. Lay it out on the bottom of the container. When you put the dried slime on the paper towel, i put my clean finger under the RO faucet and then let 1-2 drips hit the dried piece. Put it in a dark place for 12 hrs. After 12 hrs add a few oats next to it. You can even add the oats next to it in the first 12hrs if its daywalker or Sally's daywalker since it activates pretty fast.
If it moves onto the oats it woke up. If it didnt move, youll have to wait another 12hrs. If it still doesnt its a failed dried slime culture. You'll have to start over.

Once you have a slime mold that woke up, daily care will start. You can skip a day here and there in winter. I went on a 4 day trip and they were fine. (Colder temps slow it besides badhamia it loves cooler temps.) Summer it grows rapidly and that is why I always encourage a backup. It can grow so fast that it can crash. Also, you can mass feed it however in summer thats risky since warm temps make it grow fast already. It can crash with feeding too many oats.

I start with 3-4 oats a day with daywalker. After a week or so when its grown I add a little more. After the slime leaves the old oats, I clean them out. It prevents mold. Add new and repeat that cycle. You may need to spray around the paper towel every few days or when it looks to be drying out. Sometimes i lightly spray the inside of the lid to keep humidity higher. To keep it somewhat damp.

Every roughly 7 days in summer and 10 days in winter,  I remove the old slime and sit it ontop of the lid. Then I clean the bottom out and start a new damp papertowel across the bottom. Sometimes I cut around the old slime to remove access papertowel and lay it on the new papertowel. Then I put some oats next to the old slime and itll move off onto the new papertowel and oats.

Any leftover slime on the old papertowel I put in the springtail bins for them to clean up.

Live slime cultures you do that whole process besides activating the dried slime. Lay it on the clean papertowel and put some oats around it. Itll move off and into your container. However, even just buying live slime doesnt help if yours crashes. You have to have a backup in the fridge incase you need it.
